Q: But what if I've lost my data? Is it hard to recover?

No, it's easy! StorAssure's recovery wizard makes it easy to recover exactly the data that you need, whether it's the entire drive, or just a file or two.

If you've lost your laptop, or your hard drive crashes, you can easily install StorAssure on another system, and recover your data quickly.

Q: What platforms does StorAssure support?

Q: Does StorAssure work with all Snap Servers or only the new Snap Server 500 series?

Yes, StorAssure is compatible with all current and legacy Snap Servers when used as the network backup target for StorAssure clients

Q: Do users need to upgrade their current Snap Server OS before it can work with the StorAssure?

No, StorAssure is a Windows client application. There is no requirement for the Snap Server to be at any specific OS revision

Q: Does StorAssure only work with Snap Servers?

StorAssure is very versatile, and offers the option to back up to any network mounted drive, or removable media such as USB drives and external hard drives.

However, with Snap Servers and their capacity to back up the entire contents of your hard drive, there's no media to keep track of and your files are always available online from any workstation.

Q: What happens if I'm not connected to the network? Will my files still be protected?

Yes! When you disconnect from the network, StorAssure senses this, and automatically begins to log changes you make to your files. As soon as you reconnect to the network, StorAssure senses this as well, and will automatically begin to back up your changed files.

Q: Does StorAssure back up over the Internet or WAN?

Both, as long as you have network access to your Snap Server (via an Intranet or VPN connection), StorAssure will be able to back up your data.

Q: Will StorAssure back up open files?

Only if the open file has not been written to, and generally, only during a manual full back up. Otherwise, the trigger to backup the file is to close the file.

Q: Does StorAssure support Standby / Hibernate mode in Windows?

Yes. With Windows XP and 2003, support for auto hibernate mode (in the power management settings) is an option that can be turned on in StorAssure.
